Man dies of gunshot in Mal Chakk village

One person died when a pistol went off in Mall Chakk village near Khadoor Sahib town on Saturday as two sides involved in a property dispute gathered to reach an understanding.

Police said that the deceased has been identified as Surinder Singh of Khela village. He had gone to support one Jujjbir Singh of Bath who had a land dispute with Dalbir Singh, a resident of Khadoor Sahib.

The land falls under Mal Chakk village. Surinder Singh died on the spot when there was reportedly an accidental firing from the pistol of a member belonging to his own side. Goindwal Sahib police said that further proceedings have been initiated in the case. — OC
