‘Raahgiri Day’ turns Malhar road into sport zone
The much-awaited ‘Raahgiri Day’ unfolded with vibrant energy at Sat Paul Mittal Road (Malhar road) as hundreds of people gathered early in the morning to celebrate fitness, fun and community spirit. Organised in collaboration with Punjab Police, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and district administration, the event drew Ludhianvis from all age groups — ranging from kids to senior citizens.
FIT India (a division of Sports Authority of India) also collaborated with the Raahgiri foundation and came in a large group of students who enjoyed cycling. The area came alive with cyclists, skaters, dancers and families engaging in a multitude of activities. Children as young as two-year-old, teenagers, adults and elderly people joined the celebration, showcasing the true spirit of an inclusive and healthy Ludhiana.
The morning witnessed energetic Zumba and fitness sessions led by Team Ecstasy, yoga by the Everest Institute and street games organized by Clay World School and Next Gen Sports. Popular games like badminton, cricket, carrom and ludo were seen being played on the roads.
The event was supported by community organisations such as Initiators of Change, Aryaman Foundation and Picberry, making it a collaborative success. Raahgiri Foundation congratulated all participants and reinforced the message of road safety and healthy living, especially urging the youth to adopt active lifestyles.
Traffic police officials also addressed the crowd and emphasised the importance of safe driving practices, urging everyone to become responsible citizens on the roads.
