Lalu-Tej Pratap Tensions

The new member of Bihar's politically influential Yadav family comes amid tensions between family patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav and his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav.

The RJD chief on Sunday expelled Tej Pratap from the party and snapped all ties with him, stating that his actions were "irresponsible" and not in accordance with public conduct.

On Saturday, Tej Pratap announced that he was in a relationship for 12 years with a woman. He made the announcement while being in marriage and his divorce petition with estranged wife Aishwarya is still pending before a family court in Patna.

He, however, deleted the post in which he made the announcement claiming on X that his Facebook page was "hacked".

Aishwarya, the granddaughter of Daroga Prasad Rai, tied the knot with Tej Pratap in 2018 but left his house a few months later. She had alleged back then that she was driven out by her husband and in-laws.

Tejashwi and Tej Pratap are among nine children of ex-Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi.
