Bhopal: Criminal Gang Active In The City, Hunt Launched

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Suspected vagabond criminal gangs are active in the city ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The gang targeted some houses and an office in Arera Colony under Habibganj police station in the intervening night on Friday and Saturday. The miscreants who were around five in numbers decamped with cash and valuables from the house of a senior citizen.

Appearance of the miscreants in the CCTV footages indicate that they belonged to Pardi or Kanjar tribes who are infamous for assaulting the owners of the houses they target. Police teams are now searching for the suspects at ‘deras’ or camps of vagabond tribes residing on the outskirts of the city.

According to reports, the miscreants sneaked into the house of senior citizen Manjula Mehrotra. The children of the elderly lady live in Bengaluru and one Nand Kishor Ahirwar takes care of her. Nand Kishor claimed confronting the miscreants who were five in number and were wearing half pants.

The miscreants earlier broke the locks of the office of a Chartered Accountant at E-4 in Arera Colony. The miscreants were captured in the CCTV footages at the office. Footages show one miscreant with a sword like weapon in his hand. The others had faces covered and were wearing half pants.

ACP Habibganj Nihit Upadhyay said efforts were underway to identify and trace the culprits. It is possible that the miscreants may belong to ‘pardhi’ or ‘kanjar’ tribes who live in camps at several locations in and around Bhopal. However, anything concrete can be established only after their identification, he added.

It is worth mentioning that ‘pardhi’ gangs are known to be notorious criminals and who have a record of killing their victims brutally. As per their modus operandi, they move in gang of five to six persons and are usually armed with clubs. They wear half pants and vests and travel long distances for committing crimes.
