Jhansi-Prayagraj Express Now Starts From Gwalior, First Journey Flagged Off; Will Run Everyday

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior has received a new train connection to Prayagraj as the Jhansi-Prayagraj Express has now been extended up to Gwalior.

Now renamed the Virangana Laxmibai Jhansi–Prayagraj Express, the train will run daily between Gwalior and Prayagraj, providing a major boost to connectivity in the region.

The first extended service from Gwalior started on Tuesday, May 27 at 5:00 AM, and was flagged off by Member of Parliament Bharat Singh Kushwah, along with BJP district president Jayprakash Rajoria and other local leaders at the Gwalior Railway Station.

Daily Timings And Stops

  • From Gwalior (Train No. 11801): Departs at 5:00 AM, reaches Jhansi at 7:35 AM, and arrives in Prayagraj at 6:30 PM.

  • From Prayagraj (Train No. 11802): Leaves at 6:05 AM, reaches Jhansi at 5:15 PM, and arrives in Gwalior at 9:00 PM, stopping at Datia, Sonagiri, and Dabra on the way.

This train will help not just Gwalior, but also nearby towns like Dabra, Datia, and Sonagiri, offering a daily travel option to Prayagraj.

With this new extension, the train now has 18 coaches instead of the earlier 14.

These include:

  • 13 General coaches

  • 2 Sleeper coaches

  • 2 SLR (luggage and guard) coaches

  • 1 AC Third Tier coach

This new service is expected to help people traveling for work, business, or religious reasons.

It will also improve access to jobs, education, and tourism opportunities for people in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
