India sees uptick in COVID cases with over 1,000 active patients, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi witness surge | LIVE

New Delhi: India is witnessing a concerning rise in the covid cases. According to the government data, there are over 1,000 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi being the three highest contributors. As per the Union health ministry’s Covid-19 portal, updated at 8 am, India has 1,009 active cases; of these, as many as 752 are recent ones. “Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 430, followed by Maharashtra with 209, Delhi with 104, and Karnataka with 47. Some states like Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir currently have no active cases reported,” it said in a statement. The first death in Karnataka has been reported of an 85-year-old male in a Whitefield hospital who suffered multiple organ failure just days after his test came positive on Saturday. It is important to note that more than 30 cases were recorded in Bengaluru alone which was followed by a COVID testing mandate issued by the Karnataka government for individuals with respiratory issues.
