CM Saini bats for natural farming, inaugurates veterinary polyclinic

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday urged farmers to adopt natural farming and reduce their reliance on chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Speaking after inaugurating the Government Veterinary Polyclinic at Biholi village in Kurukshetra, the CM emphasised the environmental and health benefits of sustainable agriculture.

“The farmers should avoid excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides in their crops. For our future generation to be empowered, we have to move towards natural farming,” he said. “By adopting natural farming, the farmers will not only maintain the fertility of the soil, but it will also have a positive impact on the environment and health,” he added.

Saini announced Rs 21 lakh for development works in Biholi. The new polyclinic, built at a cost of Rs 4.67 crore, is equipped with modern veterinary facilities and will have adequate veterinary officers, technicians, and support staff.

Highlighting challenges in animal husbandry, the CM said, “The price of milch animals is in lakhs, making it difficult for landless and small farmers. Treatment adds to their burden. That’s why veterinary institutions are now more important than ever.”

Later in Mathana village, Saini laid the foundation stone of a modern Gau-Chikitsalya and announced another Rs 21 lakh for its construction. “The government has implemented the Gau Samvardhan Yojana to make gaushalas self-reliant. Under this scheme, the state’s first biogas plant will be set up in Yamunanagar at a cost of Rs 90 crore,” he said.

He noted that this facility would reduce stray cattle and ensure proper treatment for sick animals. Over Rs 500 crore has been earmarked for gaushalas in the current Budget, compared to just Rs 2 crore before 2014.

Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana echoed the CM’s message, urging farmers to adopt natural farming and benefit from government subsidies.
