University teacher accuses senior of harassment, seeks HC’s intervention
A part-time law teacher at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, has accused her Head of Department (HOD) of harassment and alleged that influential individuals are attempting to shield the accused while coercing her to withdraw her complaint.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday, the teacher stated that she filed a police complaint on May 14, accusing the HOD of subjecting her to mental, academic and financial harassment over the past two years. Despite the complaint, she claimed, no FIR has been registered so far.
The teacher also alleged that the father of a judicial officer has been pressuring both her and her husband — also an employee at the university — to withdraw the complaint.
She suspects that his influence may be delaying action on her complaint and hinted at the possible indirect involvement of the judicial officer. The teacher has requested the Chief Justice to intervene by directing the registration of an FIR, ensuring protection from external pressure, and facilitating a fair investigation.
Meanwhile, a police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into the case is currently underway.
