Amid rising Covid cases: Public urged to stay cautious

Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjiv Verma today confirmed that no cases of Covid have been detected so far in Una district and assured the public that there is no cause for panic. In an advisory issued here, he emphasised that the Health Department is fully prepared to handle any situation should cases arise.

Dr Verma stated that the district has adequate medical infrastructure, including a sufficient number of hospital beds, oxygen concentrators, antibiotics and other essential medicines. Dispelling public fears, he noted that it is common for patients with cold, cough, or sneezing symptoms to visit OPDs for routine medical care.

However, he cautioned that individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms should avoid crowded places, cover their mouth while sneezing or coughing and wear masks in public. He advised vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, children and those with existing health conditions to remain vigilant.

Dr Verma added that anyone experiencing Covid-like symptoms should immediately report to the nearest government health facility for timely assistance.
