Future leaders in making
In Kapurthala, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal and SSP Gaurav Tura mentored six district toppers under the same programme. Class X toppers Manpreet Kaur (96.77%), Kamaljit Kaur (96.46%) and Anjali Kumari (95.84%), along with Class XII meritorious students Ankita Sharma, Ravneet Kaur, and Tania Singh, spent the day the officials.
The Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of this programme is ‘to guide the deserving children to fulfil their dreams’. The students asked the Deputy Commissioner and SSP about the difficulties they faced on the way to this point and the officers shared their experiences in detail. The Deputy Commissioner shared his journey of passing the civil services exam and gave the children the mantra of working hard and never giving up. SSP Tura shared his IPS journey.
The students at the Deputy Commissioner and SSP office, watched the office work closely all day. They saw the proceedings of the meeting regarding flood prevention arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner and SSP also served lunch to the students at their official residence and in the evening they also got information about the activities of the day from them.
“This is a golden day of my life,” said Kamaljit, who dreams of joining the civil services. Anjali added, “This has inspired me to work harder to become a doctor.” The Deputy Commissioner also honoured the students with commendation letters and books for their achievements in their studies.
