'Propaganda To Harm Me & Tovino Thomas': Unni Mukundan REACTS After Former Manager Accuses Him Of Assault

Hours after Marco star Unni Mukundan's former manager, Vipin Kumar, filed a complaint against him, accusing him of physical assault, the actor ended his silence and narrated his side of the story. He called Vipin's claims an attempt to tarnish his reputation and hamper his bond with actor Tovino Thomas.

Vipin had claimed that Mukundan abused and assaulted him after he praised Tovino Thomas's Narivetta on social media. On the contrary, the Marco actor claimed that Vipin was "spreading false information", and he even agreed to apologise and set things straight in front of a mutual friend, Vishnu.

"It's impossible to explain the shock and pain when someone you've been close to for years suddenly turns against you. When Vishnu Mohan, the director of 'Meppadiyan', asked Vipin about the matter, he admitted his mistake and apologised. Later, Vishnu himself called me and suggested that I meet Vipin directly to resolve the issue. I went to the Kochi flat for that reason — I wanted to know why someone I considered a good friend for so long would spread false accusations against me," Mukundan told Manorama Online.

The actor went on to share that he met Vipin in the parking lot of his residence in the presence of Vishnu, and that the entire area was also being monitored by CCTV cameras. "Vipin came out wearing dark sunglasses. I asked him why he was speaking badly about me to others. He didn’t give a clear answer and appeared nervous and caught off guard. That’s when I asked him to remove his sunglasses and talk to me. He couldn’t even look me in the eye. I also asked Vishnu why Vipin was behaving this way. Yes, I removed and broke his sunglasses — that is true. But I did not engage in any act that could be called physical assault," he said.

Mukundan stated that it was then that he ended his professional relationship with Vipin, and asked him to hand over the access to all his accounts and passwords, along with a written apology. He added that Vipin was now in "damage control mode" and was "trying to cover up his mistakes by making childish accusations".

Spoke to Tovino Thomas, explained everything: Unni Mukundan

The actor revealed that he spoke to Tovino Thomas to clarify the issue after it got out in the open. Calling it "propaganda to harm both me and Tovino," Mukundan added, "We’ve been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. Tovino was someone who celebrated the success of Marco with me. No false rumour can destroy that friendship."

Mukundan also revealed that he had received multiple complaints against Vipin in the past, but he chose to ignore them and supported him over the years. "When his father needed heart treatment, I stood by them and helped financially. But in the end, he’s trying to blackmail me," he rued.

"No staff member has ever made a complaint against me. I’m someone who dreams only about cinema and strives to stay sincere to it," the actor concluded, requesting his fans to not believe "baseless stories" about him.
