Navi Mumbai News: Shiv Sena (UBT) Delegation Meets NMMC Chief Dr Kailas Shinde Over Pre-Monsoon Works, Policy Decisions
Navi Mumbai: A delegation of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party office bearers, led by Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vitthal More, met with Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde to raise concerns over pre-monsoon works and recent policy decisions by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).
The Shiv Sena delegation strongly opposed the NMMC's new decision to impose a permit fee of Rs. 200 per tree for pre-monsoon tree trimming, arguing it was an unnecessary financial burden.
The delegation also questioned the criteria used for ongoing concretization of junctions and roads across Navi Mumbai, alleging that such works were being undertaken indiscriminately in areas where they were not required, possibly favoring select individuals.
Further, the delegation highlighted irregularities in the municipal drain-cleaning process. They pointed out that tenders for drain cleaning were being issued after the work had already been undertaken in April-May, calling it a case of "putting the cart before the horse" and accusing the corporation of misusing public funds.

The delegation noted that these grounds, acquired at nominal rates, were intended for public use after school hours, as per CIDCO guidelines, and demanded strict action against violations.
"We also urged the corporation not to take action against small entrepreneurs running food trucks under the Chief Minister’s Employment Self-Employment Scheme. Despite having proper permits, these vendors faced repeated harassment by the corporation," former corporator and Deputy city cheif of Shiv Sena, Sameer Bagwan said.
In response, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde assured the delegation that the NMMC would not allow any lapses to affect the daily lives of the public and that necessary steps would be taken to address the concerns.
