WATCH: LSG captain Rishabh Pant scores his first century in IPL 2025, celebration goes viral

New Delhi:

Rishabh Pant’s performance in IPL 2025 has not been anything special so far, but he is a class player. He showed signs of returning to form by playing a short but effective innings in the last match against Gujarat Titans. That innings must have given him confidence, and now the wicketkeeper-batsman has proved his strength by scoring a brilliant century in 54 balls against the in-form RCB.

Captain Pant came at number 3 before Nicholas Pooran

LSG captain Rishabh Pant came to bat at number 3, while Nicholas Pooran usually bats at this position. This decision may not have been successful in the last match, but this time Pant started with tremendous intent. He hit a trademark six in the very first over and then maintained the run rate of LSG by hitting two fours in the same over. The pressure of the early wicket did not overwhelm him at all.

A must-win game for RCB to confirm a top-two spot, but they ended up conceding a massive 227 after choosing to bowl first. Making his season debut, Nuwan Thushara impressed with early swing and sharp pace, dismissing Breetzke for 14. In a surprising move, LSG promoted the struggling Rishabh Pant ahead of Pooran—and this time, it paid off. Pant turned the tide by smashing 18 runs off a Yash Dayal over, sparking what turned into his finest knock of the season. While Mitchell Marsh took time to settle, Pant took charge, reaching his fifty in just 29 balls as LSG surged to 100/1 by the 10th over.
