Punjab govt issues helpline to support Nasha Mukti Morcha
The state government launched a dedicated helpline number: 98236-00007, during an anti-drug awareness seminar held at Baba Kumma Singh Ji Engineering College, Attari, on Tuesday to strengthen the Nasha Mukti Morcha.
Sonia Mann, Coordinator of Nasha Mukti Morcha (Majha), addressed the seminar and highlighted the positive impact of the ongoing drug de-addiction campaign. She said that the movement is beginning to yield meaningful results. She added that students from schools and colleges actively participating in efforts to make Punjab a drug-free state.
She said the success of this initiative has been made possible through the joint efforts of the Panchayat Department, Health Department, Police Department, village-level security committees, youth clubs and the general public. She expressed hope that the youth of Punjab will soon be freed from the grip of drug addiction and reintegrated into the mainstream of life.
Sonia Mann also urged individuals, who want to overcome drug addiction, to seek treatment only at government-run or recognised de-addiction centres. She added that the Punjab Government has made arrangements for the rehabilitation of individuals undergoing treatment. During the event, she administered an anti-drug oath to the students.
District Coordinator Dixit Dhawan also addressed the gathering and informed attendees about the newly issued helpline number. He said any person can give information about the drug seller or buyer on the number and the name of the informant will be kept confidential.
