Chief Engineer Vimal Negi’s death: Congress should tell who it is trying to protect: BJP
The Congress government should tell who it is trying to protect in case of the death of Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer at Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. This was stated by BJP spokesperson and MLA Trilok Jamwal while he was addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday.
He said it was unfortunate that the government tried to deprive justice the family of deceased HPPCL official and his family. He said state investigating agencies had formed three different investigation teams to probe the suspicious death of the chief engineer.
Negi went missing on March 10 and later, his body was recovered from Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur district on March 18. His family members staged a protest outside the HPPCL office in Shimla with his body on March 19, demanding a CBI inquiry, but the state government did not accept the plea of Kiran Negi, the wife of deceased official. Later, Kiran Negi moved the high court, requesting CBI probe.
Trilok Jamwal alleged that it was an unfair investigation and attempt to weaken the case. He said that it was only after the public unrest that the government was forced to suspend two senior officers of the power corporation. He added that it was only after complaint of Kiran Negi that officials of HPPCL, including Desh Raj, director (electrical), were harassing her husband.
The BJP spokesperson said total mockery prevailed in the working of the state government as neither justice nor discipline was visible in the governance. He said the investigation into the death of Vimal Negi every officer had different versions and they were on record of the high court. He added that the Director General of Police had said that no one was cooperating in the investigation while the SP said the investigation was conducted in a fair manner. The Advocate General of the government opposed to handover the case to the CBI and the statement of Additional Chief Secretary was in
other direction.
Jamwal said the last statement that the Chief Minister made in the case was more irresponsible as he said that had Kiran Negi demanded, the government would have handed over the case to CBI, while the entire government machinery was opposing the handing over of case to the CBI.
