U-19 Cricket: Hoshiarpur secures quarterfinal spot

In the inter-district under-19 cricket tournament organised by the Punjab Cricket Association, the Hoshiarpur team has entered the quarterfinals with a huge first-innings victory of 107 runs over the Fatehgarh Sahib team.

Providing information, HDCA Secretary Dr Raman Ghai stated that the two-day match was played in Ropar, where Hoshiarpur batted first and posted a total of 393 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Ashveer Singh scored a remarkable double century, while Manveer Singh Heer contributed 60 runs, Sahib Sahotra 52 runs and Harmandeep 31 runs. For Fatehgarh Sahib, Deepak Raj Singh took 4 wickets and Sukhchain claimed 2 wickets.

In reply, Fatehgarh Sahib was all out for 171 runs in their first innings, with Mayank Yadav contributing 45 runs. For Hoshiarpur, Aryan Arora bowled brilliantly, taking 6 wickets, while Asisjot took 2 wickets and Krishna Walia and Anshul Sharma claimed one wicket each.

Hoshiarpur enforced the follow-on, and Fatehgarh Sahib collapsed for just 115 runs in the second innings. Aryan Arora delivered a sensational performance once again, claiming 9 wickets in the second innings. Asisjot took 1 wicket. Aryan Arora finished the match with a phenomenal total of 15 wickets.

With this victory, the Hoshiarpur team entered the quarterfinals. Dr Raman Ghai expressed happiness over the team’s performance and congratulated the entire squad. HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Dr Pankaj Shiv and Joint Secretary Vivek Sahni also extended congratulations to the team on behalf of the group association.
