Spirit controversy: Deepika Padukone hits back at Sandeep Reddy Vanga, says ‘I stand by… a lot of peace’ in viral video
Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga accused actress Deepika Padukone publicly of playing dirty PR games after she opted out of the movie Spirit, also starring Prabhas. Vanga had reportedly cast Padukone in his upcoming film Spirit. But after his fallout with Deepika, he criticised Deepika for showing ‘unprofessionalism’.
Reacting to Vanga’s viral tweet that hinted at Deepika, she gave it back to the director. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Deepika didn’t directly address her exit from Spirit, but her video suggested clarity on the choices she has made. She said, “I think what keeps me balanced is just being truthful, being authentic. Whenever I am faced with complicated or difficult situations, I listen to my inner voice and make decisions that give me peace. That’s when I feel most in equilibrium.”

Vanga, in his tweet didn’t name anyone, but it seemed he has accused Deepika for leaking the movie’s script. He wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are….Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it. A report suggested that Padukone’s exit came from a series of disagreements with Vanga. She had allegedly demanded over Rs 20 crore as remuneration, along with eight working hours to accommodate her schedule as a new mother. These terms reportedly clashed with Vanga’s working style.
Meanwhile, the director quickly introduced Tripti Dimri as the new lead actress for Spirit. It has been reported that Dimri has been signed for Rs 4 crore for the movie.
