Bad news for Indian students, Trump takes major step to…, students globally in US to suffer due to….

The Donald Trump administration has told US embassies around the world to stop conducting new interviews for international student visas. The move comes at a time when the government plans to expand social media checks for all student and exchange visitor visa applicants.

The new policy comes at a time when the Trump administration is considering tightening rules for student visas. The government says it wants to expand social media checks for all student visa applicants. Consular officials will be expected to look at posts, likes, comments and shares on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and X to determine if there is any content they consider a threat to national security.

According to The Guardian, the State Department message sent on Tuesday said, “Until further guidance is issued, embassy sections should not make any additional student or exchange visitor (F, M, and J) visa appointments.” The directive applies to student and exchange visas, which many foreign students need to study in the US.

The ban could lead to long delays in the visa process and impact universities that rely on international students for revenue. According to the NAFSA Association, more than one million international students were studying in the US last year, contributing about $43.8 billion to the US economy.

The administration has intensified its crackdown on students who may have participated in pro-Palestine campus protests and has revoked visas and ordered deportations of those involved in such demonstrations.
