Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM Warms Up To Mahagathbandhan Ahead Of Bihar Elections

Bihar Elections 2025: With the Bihar Assembly elections due in a few months, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expressed its keen interest in joining the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. The party is awaiting a green signal from Tejashwi Yadav, reported news agency IANS.

"We are very positive about joining the Mahagathbandhan. Our ideology is to defeat the BJP and empower Bihar," AIMIM spokesperson Adil Hasan was quoted as saying by IANS.

He further stated, "Even in 2020, the party had requested to be part of the Mahagathbandhan. Our aim is to defeat the BJP. The NDA government in Bihar has completely failed. The current state of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is well known. In 2014, Bihar sent 32 MPs to the NDA, 39 in 2019, and 30 in 2024, yet the BJP has given nothing back to Bihar."

'All Investments Flowing Into Gujarat'

The AIMIM leader claimed that all investments are flowing into Gujarat, with Bihar's labourers migrating there for work. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has never held a meeting focused on uplifting Bihar from its 'Bimaru' state tag. He remembers only litti, litchi, cricketers, and tea from Bihar.

'Ready To Join Mahagathbandhan If RJD Is Ready'

The AIMIM spokesperson added, "The RJD is the largest party in the Mahagathbandhan, and Tejashwi Yadav aspires to be the Chief Minister. AIMIM has never aimed for the Chief Minister's post. Our demands are limited to an economic package and special status for Seemanchal. If the RJD is agreeable, we are ready to join hands."

Referring to instances of supporting various governments, he said that if the Congress can show respect to AIMIM in Telangana, Tejashwi Yadav should also show magnanimity in Bihar. We have been together in the UPA, so what's the problem? He also added that a lack of such magnanimity will only benefit a third party.
