52 golden boats, 4 wives, 300 cars: THIS Asian king is the richest monarch in the world but not richer than Mukesh Ambani or Gautam Adani, his net worth is…, name is…
There are many billionaires in the world, but very few can compare to the royal wealth and grand lifestyle of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Known as King Rama X, he is often described as the richest monarch in the world, with an estimated net worth of Rs. 3.7 lakh crore (around 43 billion US dollars), according to Business Standard.
While his wealth and lifestyle draw global attention, King Vajiralongkorn’s life has also been shaped by discipline and duty. From royal ceremonies to military service, he has played many roles. His story is a blend of royal heritage, personal ambition, and a deep connection to his country’s traditions.
A fortune built on inheritance and investment
King Vajiralongkorn inherited a massive fortune in 2016 after the death of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. But what’s remarkable is that he didn’t stop there. Over the years, he has grown that wealth many times over through smart investments in Thailand’s top companies and major real estate holdings.
He is one of the biggest landowners in the country, with more than 17,000 properties in Bangkok alone. This makes him one of Thailand’s most powerful landlords. His royal collection includes over 300 luxury cars, 38 private jets, and a fleet of 52 golden boats, which are used for traditional royal ceremonies and represent the grandeur of Thai royalty.
A royal with military training
Born in 1952, King Vajiralongkorn is the only son of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. He received his military education in the UK and Australia, and is a trained jet and helicopter pilot. He earned a degree in military studies from the Canberra’s prestigious Royal Military College and later served in the Royal Thai Army. In the 1970s, he even took part in counter-insurgency missions. According to Reuters, he completed his schooling in Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Four marriages and a turbulent love life
King Maha Vajiralongkorn has had a complex and often controversial personal life, marked by multiple marriages and high-profile relationships. Though a powerful monarch, his love life has frequently attracted public attention and headlines.
His first marriage was in 1977, to his cousin Princess Soamsawali, with whom he had a daughter, Princess Bajarakitiyabha. However, by the late 1970s, his relationship with actress Yuvadhida Polpraserth had begun. This union led to the birth of five children. They married in 1994, but just two years later, in 1996, the relationship ended in scandal. He publicly accused her of disloyalty and disowned their four sons, who were studying in the UK at the time.
In 2001, he married Srirasmi Suwadee, a former lady-in-waiting. Their son, Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti, was born in 2005 and is now regarded as the heir apparent. However, that marriage also ended in separation and controversy.
Then, in a surprising move just days before his coronation in 2019, Vajiralongkorn married Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, a former flight attendant and bodyguard. She was officially given the title of Queen and now holds a central position in the Thai royal family.
Maha Vajiralongkorn’s net worth
King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s estimated net worth falls between USD 30 billion and USD 45 billion, making him the wealthiest monarch in the world. His fortune far exceeds that of many other royals, for example, King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whose net worth is estimated to be around USD 747 million.
While King Charles III is one of the most recognized and respected royal figures globally, his personal wealth is modest in comparison. King Vajiralongkorn’s immense fortune sets him apart, not just in Asia, but across the world.
