IIM Ranchi: Gaining Management Acumen through the Summer Programme in Management
IIM Ranchi commenced its six-day residential 'Summer Programme in Management' on, May 26, 2025. This programme is specifically designed for undergraduate and recent graduate students aspiring to pursue management education. Participants from across the country have converged for this intensive residential session.
The programme aims to provide students with foundational knowledge in management education and skills. It will cover from basic management principles to the utility of management expertise and effective approaches within industries, administration, and private organizations.
The inauguration ceremony was hosted by the Programme Directors Prof. Rajeev Verma, Prof. Krishna Kumar Dadsena and Prof. Jagan Kumar Sur, and other distinguished faculty members.
Prof. Dadsena elaborated on the course design, emphasizing that management education (MBA) is crucial for establishing a successful professional career. He highlighted that management education fosters holistic development, enabling individuals to think critically, provide positive solutions, and draw conclusive insights when faced with institutional challenges and innovation. He outlined the topics to be covered during the six-day academic session, which include: Why pursue an MBA, distinguishing between management and administrative functions, Methods of self-assessment, Various dimensions of management education, Developing management skills for personal growth. He also provided insights into gaining admission to management institutes through exams like CAT and navigating the academic journey thereafter.
Prof. Verma, extended a warm welcome to the participating students. He stressed the importance of clear thinking, a robust mindset, and articulate communication in professional life, underscoring the necessity of in-depth subject knowledge. He also discussed the educational system and culture prevalent in IIM institutions with the students. Prof. Sur, Programme director, shed light on the subjects included in the six-day academic session and their future applicability.
The Summer Programme in Management will run from May 26 to May 31, 2025. Students from various states, including Jharkhand, New Delhi, Lucknow, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Chennai, and West Bengal, are participating. The training session will employ a case study-based approach to impart practical and fundamental principles of management education and skills.
