BJP launches internship scheme for law students
The BJP Legal Cell, led by Virendra Sachdeva, president of BJP Delhi, on Wednesday launched the ‘Pra-Vidhika & Vidhayika’ internship programme to give aspiring law students practical exposure to India’s legal and legislative systems.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal, BJP Legal Cell convenor Neeraj, programme in-charge Anil Soni and senior legal experts. Notable figures from the legal fraternity such as Senior advocates Sonia Mathur, Pawan Narang, Shiva Lakshmi, Bandana Kaur Grover and Bar Council of Delhi honorary secretary Rajesh Mishra were also present.
Aimed at bridging the gap between academic theory and practical experience, the programme is designed for students with interests in litigation, legislative affairs and public policy. It will run from June to December 2025, across seven batches.
Participants in the ‘Pra-Vidhika’ stream will work with senior advocates and legal chambers, gaining hands-on experience in District Courts, the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. The ‘Vidhayika’ stream will pair interns with Delhi MLAs to support legislative research, policy formulation and constituency-level legal work.
Calling it the first initiative of its kind in India, Khandelwal praised the Legal Cell for launching a programme that prepares students for both legal practice and public service. He also proposed expanding the Vidhayika stream to include Members of Parliament.
Senior Advocate Sonia Mathur said the programme would promote gender inclusion and empower more women to thrive in the legal field. The curriculum also covers training in parliamentary procedure, legislative responsibilities and law-making. Applications can be submitted via https://bit.ly/4jm1KPR.
