CM inaugurates key infra projects in Shalimar Bagh

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated a series of development projects in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, including footpaths, roads, and civic amenities across several blocks in Pitampura. The visit was part of her outreach to mark 100 days of the BJP-led city government, during which she reiterated her commitment to making Delhi’s neighbourhoods clean, beautiful, and safe.

Speaking at SU Block Park in Pitampura, Gupta recalled how the park was once in a neglected and barren state when she was first elected as a Municipal Councillor in 2007. “Over time, we carried out multiple development works—constructed footpaths, toilets, installed swings, and set up open gyms. Now that you have placed your trust in me as the CM, it is my responsibility to transform this park into a lush and beautiful ‘Amrit Udyan,” she told residents.

During her visit, Gupta inaugurated newly constructed footpaths at SU and UU parks and reviewed civic infrastructure work in NP, PD, and QD Blocks. She directed officials to complete the park’s redevelopment work on priority and ensure it is beautified with flowers and landscaping to become a model public space.

Sharing details of development work in the area, Gupta said that a new road has been built in NU Block at a cost of Rs 21 lakh, while roads in PD and QD Blocks have been developed for Rs 33 lakh. Road repair work in MDKD Block was completed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh. Additionally, a new Ring Road between Madhuban Chowk and Mukarba Chowk has been constructed at a cost of Rs 13 crore to ease traffic congestion in the area.

The CM also highlighted smaller civic upgrades, including the installation of directional signs and arrows on PWD roads in Pitampura at a cost of Rs 15 lakh, and the repair of boundary walls at Prem Bari Bridge and Guru Nanak Dev University for Rs 10 lakh. To tackle monsoon-related waterlogging, she said the government has arranged water pumps and a tractor at a cost of Rs 8 lakh.

Dedicating the projects to the public, Gupta said her government is committed to ensuring visible development in every corner of Delhi. “This wave of development will not stop. Our four-engine government is fully committed to transforming the capital into a ‘Viksit Delhi’,” she said.
