Meerut couple consumes poison, man dies
A young couple from Meerut, who had recently come to Badshahpur, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance on Monday night. Both were rushed to a private hospital in critical condition, where the youth died on Tuesday, while the girl remains in intensive care.
Upon being informed, the families of both individuals arrived in Gurugram from Meerut. Police are investigating the exact reason behind their alleged consumption of poison.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Rajan (21), a resident of Baisuma village in Meerut, while the girl is from Meerut city. It has been revealed that Rajan arrived in Gurugram on May 20 and had started working at a private company. He was staying in rented accommodation in Moga Colony, Badshahpur.
It is said that the girl came to Gurugram on Monday to meet Rajan. The couple stayed in Rajan’s rented room, where they allegedly consumed the poisonous substance later that night. When their condition deteriorated, nearby residents were alerted and rushed them to a private hospital, where Rajan succumbed to the substance during treatment, while the girl continues to receive medical care.
Following the incident, a police team arrived at the hospital. A police officer said, “Prima facie, the matter seems to be a love affair. An investigation is underway and statements will be recorded once the girl’s condition improves.”
