Two unauthorised colonies razed in Yamunanagar
A demolition drive was carried out in two unauthorised colonies being developed in Badhi Majra and Gari Mundo villages falling under Jagadhri subdivision of Yamunanagar district.
Both unauthorised colonies were spread over five acres. A team of the Town and Country Planning Department led by district town planner (DTP), Yamunanagar, Rajesh Kumar, demolished damp proof courses, several under construction roads, sewerage lines, water supply lines and the office of a property dealer.
The DTP said after adopting due procedure, the demolition was conducted in the said colonies. He said as per the order of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, Naib Tehsildar, Jagadhri, was appointed as the Duty Magistrate to maintain law and order.
He said notices were issued to the defaulters as per the rules under Urban Area Act number-8 of 1975 and the defaulters did not comply with the departmental orders.
He added that the land owners also did not take necessary permission before setting up these illegal colonies, therefore, action was taken against these illegal colonies. Gupta and Rajesh Kumar appealed to the general public that no person should buy or sell any plot in any illegal colony.“People should contact the office of the DTP for any enquiry before buying any land to avoid investment in unauthorised colonies,” said Rajesh Kumar.
