Hisar civic body to convert garbage hotspots into beautified green spaces
The Municipal Corporation, Hisar, (MCH) has decided to convert 55 of the 80 garbage collection points into beautified green spaces.
A decision in this regard was taken during the General Body meeting chaired by Mayor Praveen Popli.
He said 35 garbage hotspots had already been beautified with plants and benches. “Now, approval has been granted for another 20 garbage hotspots. Beautification work at these locations will begin shortly,” he informed. He said civic body had been collecting door-to-door garbage from these areas. The mayor said they had decided to launch a special campaign to remove debris and solid waste from open areas and along the roadsides.
Civic body spokesperson said sanitation was one of the key issues discussed during the session. He said councillors raised concerns over irregular cleaning in the wards and demanded that door-to-door garbage collection vehicles should arrive on time and be equipped with sirens and helpers.
Councillor Hari Singh urged the authorities to construct a boundary wall around a garbage point behind the old vegetable market. However, MCH officials said development works had to be carried out by the district administration.
The spokesperson said a new tender process for door-to-door garbage collection would be launched soon. Under the new policy, payment to agencies would be based on the number of households served. The vehicles would be regularly monitored and non-compliance would result in penalty.
As part of the beautification efforts of the town, artwork has been painted under overbridges, especially in areas that were previously used as garbage dumping spots, the spokesperson said, adding that these measures would help maintain cleanliness.
