Night traffic halted on Talland-Khalini route in Shimla till May 30
To facilitate road tarring work, the Shimla district administration has announced a night-time traffic closure on the Talland-Khalini junction.
According to an official order by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, the road will remain closed for all kinds of vehicles, except on emergency services, from 10 pm to 5.30 am until May 30.
The decision was made following a request by the Executive Engineer of Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department, Shimla Division No. III, and recommendations from the Superintendent of Police, Shimla. To ensure smooth traffic flow during the restricted hours, diversions have been planned through alternate routes.
Traffic from Talland to Khalini will be rerouted via Chhota Shimla–Brockhurst–Kasumpti. Buses coming from Upper Shimla to ISBT will travel via Chhota Shimla–Old Bus Stand–ISBT Tutikandi. Buses heading to the Old Bus Stand from Bishop Cotton School will be diverted to the ISBT and then to the MLA Crossing via Khalini. Likewise, buses going to Bishop Cotton School, New Shimla, or Vikasnagar from Old Shimla will follow the Old Bus Stand–ISBT–Lower Khalini route.
The executing agency has been instructed to ensure adequate safety measures, especially for pedestrians and schoolchildren. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with the authorities during the maintenance period.
