Shikhar Dhawan shares emotional message for son Zoravar, says ‘I just want him to know…’

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is estranged from his son following his separation from Aesha Mukerji. Dhawan, known for his aggressive batting style, has been privately dealing with the emotional consequences of this family separation.

The 39-year-old recently expressed his strong desire to be reunited with his son.

After eight years of marriage, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and Aesha Mukerji divorced in 2023. A Delhi court granted the divorce, citing mental cruelty by Mukerji. The ruling’s most significant consequence for Dhawan was restricted visitation rights to his son.

The court granted Dhawan a divorce but awarded his ex-wife, who resides in Australia with their son Zoravar, permanent custody. The court recognized Dhawan’s relationship with his son and granted him visitation rights.

The court ruling grants Dhawan visitation rights with Zoravar in both India and Australia, and permits regular video calls.

In a recent interview on Ranveer Allahbadia’s show, “Taakat,” cricketer Shikhar Dhawan discussed the challenges he faced following his separation from Zoravar and shared how he manages those difficulties.

“After 20 years, my son will be 31-32 years old. I would tell him whatever you do be happy,” said Dhawan when asked bout what kind of mentorship he would like to give Zoravar after 20 years.

“And the way to be happy is to look inside yourself. Look at your shortcomings, recognise your strengths, and make them better,” he added.

“Now I am in that situation where I can’t speak to my son, I don’t make it a big deal. I feel like I am talking to him spiritually… I am hugging him, giving him love,” he said.

“I am living a good life but my son is living in another country. I don’t know what he is doing, in what situation he is, I have no idea, I am not in touch,” he added.

“I just want him to know that his father is always with him. When he will have the strength to come here and if he wants to be with me with his will and heart, I am always there for him,” he shared emotionally.

“And of course as a father, any father will do this, he concluded.

Dhawan has openly and repeatedly demonstrated his affection for his son, Zoravar, through various public platforms, including social media and interviews, emphasizing that his paternal love remains strong regardless of distance or legal constraints.
