IPL cricket star receives warm welcome at his alma mater

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s star batsman and Amritsar’s youngest cricketing sensation, Abhishek Sharma, returned to his alma mater Delhi Public School (DPS) to a hero’s welcome with garlands, dhol beats and deafening applause. Abhishek Sharma, who has impressed one and all with his flamboyant batting in IPL 2025 season, was all smiles as he met his teachers and mentors at the school.

“It’s heart-warming, a special occasion for me as memories of all my teachers are still fresh. I remember every corner of my school, cafeteria and my favourite, the sports room,” said Abhishek as he addressed the excited students, eager for selfies with their star cricketer.

Pushing them to dream and realise those dreams, Abhishek said, “The only thing I would like to share with you is that pursue your dreams with 100 per cent commitment.”

Abhishek finished his IPL 2025 on a high note with Sunrisers’ last game ending with a convincing win. Abhishek’s fiery performance on the field made him one of the fastest scorers of a 100 in the tournament yet and he is now on brief visit back home, for a break.

“Abhishek reunited with his mentors, with folded hands and a full heart. He thanked DPS Amritsar for shaping the foundation of his journey from classroom to cricket field. The visit was not just a reunion—it was a celebration of perseverance, a tribute to the nurturing spirit of the school, and a powerful message that greatness begins with gratitude,” said Kamal Chand, Principal, DPS, Amritsar.
