'Maybe A Nurse With 16 Hr Shift': Woman Eating Biryani With Her Hands Inside London Metro Goes Viral, Draws Mixed Reactions
Sometimes you don’t even want to wait until you get home after buying a plate of your favourite food from the restaurant. Hunger and cravings both might give you butterflies in the tummy. And one woman was perhaps so tempted to eat her plate of biryani that she unwrapped it right on public transport and enjoyed it without any hesitation in front of her fellow commuters. Well, not Delhi metro or a local bus in India, the incident took place inside a London metro coach.
A co-passenger filmed her eating on the public transport. Shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), the clip shows the woman multitasking — chatting on the phone and enjoying her meal — as two men sit beside her during the journey. She didn’t use any spoon or fork, just her bare hands.

The video quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions. Some questioned how she could eat on the metro, where food was reportedly prohibited, while others were more focused on her using her hands to eat. RadioGenoa shared the video with the caption, "RIP London," claiming how migrants and their culture were taking over the region.
The exact identity of the woman wasn’t revealed, but netizens believed she was Sri Lankan or Indian based on her appearance.
"Maybe she is a nurse, 16 hr shift..."
"Maybe she is a nurse since you guys want nurses to care for you who is out of her 16 hr shift caring for your grand mom in the hospital and had nothing to eat if she doesn't she might pass out," one user guessed.
While 16-hour shifts for nurses are not standard in London, some may be required to work 12-hour shifts, which can be considered a double shift, according to reports.
"Someone is working hard. Don’t have the time to eat food. Are you going to call them out for not eating that bland fish n chips?" another wrote.
Others called the act “disgusting” — eating with hands, bringing food onto public transport, and talking loudly on the phone.

One jokingly said she seemed more like the NYC subway type, where viral moments are spotted regularly and people travel in their funkiest ways. "Lol you should ride the NYC subway," the comment read.
