Pune Reports 12 Mild COVID-19 Cases; No Hospitalisations, Officials Say 'No Need To Panic'

Pune district has reported a total of 12 cases of COVID-19 infection, with all patients reporting mild symptoms and in home isolation. No hospitalisations have been reported so far.

Health authorities noted a surge in the cases across the state. Despite the surge, the officials have urged the public not to panic, as all currently diagnosed COVID-19 cases in the state are mild in nature. Total active cases in the state have reached 383. Since January 2025, six COVID-related deaths have been reported in the state.

The report shared by the authorities revealed that around 8,868 tests were conducted since January 2025. Total positive cases since January remain at 521, and as of May 28, 2025, 132 patients have recovered. As of now, the new positive cases remain 86.

While there has been a sporadic rise in COVID-19 cases not only in Maharashtra but also in other states and some countries abroad, the Health Department assures that testing and treatment facilities are readily available across the state. The public is advised to stay informed, follow preventive guidelines, and avoid panic.

Currently, the state is actively conducting surveys for ILI (Influenza-like Illness) and SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection). Patients showing symptoms are being tested for COVID-19, and those who test positive are receiving appropriate medical care.
