'Chennai Express 2.0': Fans Compare Sidharth Malhotra & Janhvi Kapoor's Param Sundari First Look To SRK-Deepika Padukone's Film (VIDEO)
The makers of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's Param Sundari shared the first look teaser of the upcoming film on Thursday (May 29) and fans are all praise for the chemistry between the lead actors. A section of social media users have also lauded the film's melodious soundtrack, which features the voice of singer Sonu Nigam. However, some have compared the teaser to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's much-loved film Chennai Express.
The makers wrote along with the teaser, "Where North's fire meets South's grace, it calls for the biggest love story of the year."
While their description of Param Sundari is quite similar to the plot of Chennai Express, fans have also pointed out other similarities between the two projects.
A scene shown in Param Sundari teaser in which a group of people from Janhvi's village run with axes and weapons behind someone, reminded fans of a similar fight sequence in Chennai Express. A few users also compared Janhvi and Deepika's South Indian looks in the films.
Reacting to the teaser, a user wrote on X, "Sidharth Malhotra & Janhvi Kapoor in Param Sundari are low-key channeling SRK-Deepika's Chennai Express vibes… and now we need a full-blown collab."
"So chennai express but this time we'll see pissed off Malayalis," another user wrote.
"Hope it's not Chennai Express 2," read another comment.
"Kis kis ko Chennai Express wali vibe aayi," asked another user on X. Another fan went to the extent of calling it, "Chennai Express remake."
"Didn't know, Chennai Express was coming back with a sequel, looks solid - Well done Rohit Shetty," a user took a dig at the makers of Param Sundari.
Here's how others reacted:

For those who haven't watched SRK and Deepika's film, Chennai Express follows Rahul (SRK), a Mumbai man who embarks on a journey to Rameswaram to immerse his grandfather's ashes. His plans change when he meets Meenamma (Deepika), the daughter of a feared Tamil don, while aboard the Chennai Express.
Mistaken for her lover, Rahul gets caught in a whirlwind of chaos, culture clashes, and comedic trouble in a South Indian village. As he tries to escape, he gradually falls for Meenamma. The film blends action, humour, and romance as Rahul transforms from a reluctant traveller to a brave hero, ultimately winning Meenamma's heart and her father's respect.
Param Sundari has been directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The film marks Sidharth and Janhvi's first collaboration, and their chemistry is set to be a major highlight. Described as a visually rich love story that brings together North and South Indian cultures, Param Sundari promises a soulful cinematic experience.
Shot against stunning natural backdrops, the film blends romance, intensity, and charm, with both actors radiating raw appeal and effortless screen presence.
The film is all set to hit the big screens on July 25.
