Pune Crime: Electrician At Sinhagad Business School Video Calls Colleague Before Taking Own Life Over 11 Months’ Unpaid Salary

A 37-year-old electrician employed with Sinhagad Business School situated at Erandwane’s Khilare Marg in Pune killed himself by suicide after not being paid his salary for the last 11 months. The incident took place on Tuesday evening around 4 pm in Kothrud jurisdiction.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Bhau Bhagat (37). His elder brother Navnath (42) has filed a complaint at Kothrud police station.

As per the complaint by Navnath, Manoj was working in the school for the past 15 years. However, he has not received the salary for 11 months. He was in trouble because he had borrowed money from people for household expenses on behalf of his salary. After the stoppage of salary, he became frustrated and took this huge step.

Video call before committing suicide

Before killing himself, Manoj did a video call to Madhuri, an employee from the same school, and narrated his frustration. Informing Madhuri, Manoj said he had not received the salary for the past 11 months and was going to commit suicide.

Taking the call seriously, Madhuri informed another employee of the business school who immediately informed the family members. They all rushed but found Manoj hanging from a ceiling fan.

Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane of Kothrud police station, speaking to Free Press Journal, said, “Police are recording statements from both sides and investigating the matter. However, so far it is clear that salary for a few months was pending. Manoj had taken personal loans for some work based on his salary. Frustrated to return the borrowed money and due to the delay in getting salary on time, he took this huge step. Furthermore, it is clear that the employee of the school is facing some salary issue. The matter is under investigation accordingly FIR will be lodged and action will be taken."
