'Aisa Lag Raha Hai Match...': Suryakumar Yadav's Quip During His Father's Retirement From BARC Draws Massive Laughter; Video
Team India's T20I captain and Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav paid tribute to his father, who was retiring from Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC). During the right-handed batter's speech, the veteran seemingly said out of nervousness that he feels as if a match is about to begin.
Suryakumar has established himself as among the best T20 batters in the world and is currently India's third-highest run-getter in the format with 2598 runs in 85 matches, striking at 167.07 alongside four centuries. He has also played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians' dominance in IPL over the years.
During the speech at BARC, he stated:
"Na main koi parchi leke aaya hoon, na phone mein kuch likha hai, kyunki moment pe parchiyan aur phone kaam mein nahin aayengi. Experience jo itne saalon ka raha hai vahi main share karna chahunga. Aisa lag raha hai match hee chalu hone waala hai. Ek hi cheez bolna hai mujhe ki jab itne log jama ho jata hai kisi ek aadmi ke liye jaha baithne ko jagah nahi hai log andar aake dekhna chahte hai ki kya chal raha hai toh that means kuch acha kaam hi kiya hoga papa aapne."
(I have not brought any chits or written anything in the phone because they don't work in moments like these. I would only like to share the experiences over these years. It feels like the match is going to start. I would like to say one thing that when so many people gather at one place just for one person where there is no place to sit people want to come in and see what is happening then it means that dad you would have done some good work only)
Suryakumar Yadav is the third-highest run-getter currently in IPL 2025
Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born cricketer is currently the third-highest run-getter in IPL 2025, aggregating 640 runs in 14 innings, averaging a jaw-dropping 71.11. He is also the highest run-getter for Mumbai Indians this year.
The five-time champions will face the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 Eliminator on May 30 (Friday) in Mullanpur. Both sides are coming off a defeat in their previous game and face a do-or-die clash to progress further in the tournament.
