Guy Ritchie begins shooting for Season 2 of Netflix's gangster series 'The Gentlemen'

For fans of Guy Ritchie's 2024 series adaptation of his 2019 The Gentlemen, it will be a relief to know that Netflix has not only greenlit a new season but also announced that filming has officially commenced! Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, who headlined the first season, are reprising their roles. As in the first, Ritchie is involved in a directorial capacity with Eran Creevy as co-director.
Season 1 introduced us to Theo's protagonist Eddie, a war hero-turned-aristocrat who learns of an illegal weed farm underneath his recently deceased father's humungous family estate, and the freshly brewed troubles as he navigates his new responsibilities as a crime figure who applies his military training and sharp thinking to dispatch opponents, both ruthless and comical, unflinchingly. In the meantime, he forges an alliance with the weed farm owner Susie (Scodelario). The first season also featured some trademark Guy Ritchie-sms, namely the nods to his popular early work like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Sharing his excitement at returning to direct the new season, Ritchie, who co-wrote the series with Matthew Read, told Netflix that new chapter is a "deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”
Apart from James and Scodelario, Season 2 will see the return of Daniel Ings, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, and Giancarlo Esposito, among others. New cast members include Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Amra Mallassi, and others.
