Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Devendra Fadnavis Sets October Deadline For Delayed ₹822 Cr Water Project

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the concerned officers to complete all the technical issues and implement the water supply scheme for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar by October end. He was speaking during a water supply scheme review meeting at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Wednesday. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Water Supply Minister Gulabrao Patil, Social Justice Minister and Guardian Minister of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district Sanjay Shirsat, OBC Welfare Minister Atul Save, Additional Secretary Asimkumar Gupta, Water Supply Principal Secretary Sanjay Khandare, CM’s Principal Secretary Ashwini Bhide and other officers were present.

Fadnavis said municipal commissioners should personally see and resolve the problems faced by the contractors at the work sites. The contractors should complete the work in time by appropriately planning the machines and manpower.

The jackwell work is important for implementing the water supply scheme and it should be completed soon so that the water supply can start by October end. The stage of the work to supply 26 MLD water initially should be completed by June. Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran should complete the works in time through the contractors. The pipeline work is pending, for which the municipal corporation should take a shutdown after June 15, and this work should be completed by August 15, Fadnavis directed.

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde said that the contractors will be blacklisted if they do not complete the work in time. All the departments including police, municipal administration and Jeevan Pradhikaran should work in coordination to complete the scheme soon.

Shirsat said a demand was made that the municipal corporation’s share of ₹822 crore for the water supply scheme should be paid immediately. For this, the Chief Minister suggested taking a loan from HUDCO at lower interest rates. He also warned the contractors and agencies to complete the work in time. Care will be taken to ensure that the work is not hampered due to lack of funds, Shirsat said.
