Madhya Pradesh: Rains Expose Poor Construction Quality Under Mission Raftar In Alot

Alot (Madhya Pradesh): The pre-monsoon rain exposed the substandard materials used in the ongoing infrastructure development under Mission Raftaar of Amrit Bharat scheme at Alot Railway Station.

Heavy waterlogging was reported on the newly constructed CC road after the recent rain, which raises questions about the quality of work.

The project aimed at upgrading the station premises, including building construction, parking area, gardens and CC (cement concrete) roads. Raj Construction Company was assigned for the development work in 2023, and even after two years, the work remains incomplete, though over Rs 3 crore has been spent.

The work was carried out under the supervision of railway engineers, yet visible flaws suggest poor monitoring and lax standards.

Contractor Gopichand Sen defended the construction, stating the road was built manually and not using CC paver technology which could have ensured better durability. DRM of Kota Division, Anil Kalra said that the matter is under review and appropriate action will be taken once the quality report is received.
