Mumbai News: Azad Maidan Police Crack Brutal Murder Case, Accused Nabbed Near Crawford Market

Mumbai: The Azad Maidan Police have successfully cracked a sensational murder case that occurred on May 24, resulting in the brutal killing of a young man. The main accused, identified as Suresh Dubey (24), was apprehended from the Crawford Market area.

According to police sources, Suresh Dubey, a substance abuser who made a living by collecting used plastic bottles from roadside garbage, confessed to the crime during interrogation. The motive, as per his statement, was a dispute with the victim, Sonu, who allegedly stole plastic bottles collected by Dubey. The argument quickly escalated into a violent altercation.

In a fit of rage, Dubey allegedly picked up a large stone lying on the roadside and struck Sonu on the head, killing him on the spot. Following the incident, Dubey fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by the police.

Three days later, on May 27 at around 4:00 PM, Crime Branch Unit 1 in-charge Rohini Potdar and her team spotted a suspicious individual loitering near Baburao Shetye Chowk (Chakla Junction), Lokmanya Tilak Road in the Crawford Market area. Swift action led to the detention of the suspect, who was later confirmed to be Suresh Dubey. The accused is currently in custody as further investigations continue.
