Mayor, Deputy Mayor lead sanitation drive across city
In a coordinated push under Delhi’s ongoing Mega Cleanliness Campaign, Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh and Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav led major sanitation drives in different parts of the city on Thursday, aiming to enhance civic hygiene and public participation.
Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh spearheaded a cleanliness drive at Yusuf Sarai Main Road in the Malviya Nagar area. The initiative was organised by MLA Satish Upadhyay and saw the participation of officials from the South Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), local residents and volunteers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said, “Cleanliness is a continuous process. As our Chief Ministe has said, the Tiranga in our hands reflects our patriotism. This campaign reflects our collective responsibility to maintain a clean city and the public’s active involvement is encouraging.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav conducted a field inspection in Rajendra Nagar’s Ward No 141, accompanied by Councillor Aarti Chawla and senior officials.
He directed the immediate removal of encroachments along Bada Bazaar Road and Pusa Road and called for urgent pothole repairs and anti-waterlogging measures on Ajmal Khan Road ahead of the monsoon.
He also ordered strict action against unlicensed food vendors, citing sanitation and public health concerns.
