JAMMU, May 29: Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman Team Jammu, a social organisation, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today and urged him for special recruitment drive for border villages and provide opportunity to youth to join Indian Army, para military forces and J&K Police and serve the nation.
Zorawar formally submitted a comprehensive memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor seeking urgent policy measures to address the long-standing challenges faced by residents of the border areas and to create meaningful opportunities for the region’s youth.
He urged the Lieutenant Governor for exclusive recruitment initiatives for youth residing in border and remote villages along the Line of Control (LoC). He further called for dedicated drives to induct eligible candidates into the Indian Army, central paramilitary forces, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Zorawar further highlighted, empowering border youth through defense and security roles would not only address unemployment but also strengthen the nation’s protective presence in strategically sensitive regions.
In view of the recurring threats faced by border residents, Team Jammu has reiterated the need for constructing additional permanent concrete bunkers in vulnerable areas. These protective shelters, the organization stated, are vital for safeguarding civilian lives during periods of heightened tension and for allowing residents to remain in their ancestral homes with a sense of safety and dignity.
Meanwhile, Ashmita Paul, a self-defence instructor from Guwahati, Assam, called on Lieutenant Governor.
Paul is on a solo two-wheeler journey spanning from Guwahati to Kashmir to Kanyakumari, promoting the cause of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Ashmita Paul and extended his best wishes for her inspiring journey. He commended Paul’s efforts to raise awareness on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative and her dedication to promoting girls’ education and empowerment.
