PSEB Board toppers spend time with SSP Rural, get tips for success

In an expericenc that would stay with three meritorious students from the district, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), Maninder Singh, spent a day with them as he invited them to his office. Under the programme “One Day DC/SSP De Sang” started by the Punjab Government for meritorious students, three students from the district stayed with the SSP for the whole day and saw the working of his office, listened to the people’s problems and learnt about the methods of solving them.

The children, who appeared in merit list in the Class XII results of the PSEB Board exams included Pari from Kot Baba Deep Singh School, Prachi Rana from DAV Senior Secondary School, Hathi Gate, and Gaurvi Sharma from Punjab Public School, Sohian Kala. The district police chief said, “The purpose of the programme is to guide deserving children to fulfill their dreams.” The students asked the SSP about difficulties he faced on the way to reaching this stage in life. The officer shared his experience in detail with students. He shared his journey of clearing the UPSC examination and gave children the mantra of hard work and never giving up till they achieved their goal. The young IPS officer also shared how he studied at the IIT and later became an IPS officer. At the SSP office, the students closely observed the work all day. The SSP also invited the students to lunch at his official residence and in the evening, interacted with them about what they had learnt during the day. Impressed with how the administrative and police officials work, the students expressed their desire of cracking the civil services exam and serve the country as well as its people. “The change we want to see must first come from us. We must become a part of the system to change it,” said Prachi Rana.
