Mumbai Weather News: Cloudy Skies With Light Rains To Prevail In City Today; Moderate Showers Anticipated In Upcoming Days
Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts significant rainfall this monsoon season. On May 30, IMD has cautioned light rains today while the temperature is at 30 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 70% as of 9AM. The winds are anticipated to flow at 21 KMPH making today bright and windy.
Today's weather conditions are anticipated to be cloudy with light rains today; temperatures range from a minimum and maximum of 25 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The IMD noted an early monsoon onset, with a depression in the Bay of Bengal causing heavy rain in coastal areas. Kerala is under a state of emergency due to torrential rain, prompting red alerts, waterlogging, landslides, and school closures in affected districts.
The NDRF has deployed 18 teams in Maharashtra for rescue and relief operations due to predicted above-normal monsoon rainfall. Teams have responded to emergencies in Pune, Solapur, and Satara, rescuing nine individuals in Baramati and executing a midnight operation in Solapur.
Pune, Kolhapur, and Mumbai are identified as high-risk districts, which face flooding and waterlogging issues. New technologies such as drone surveillance and real-time tracking have been introduced for urban flood response.
As May ends, IMD predicts rains ranging between light and moderate rains in the first week of June. The weather department has issued alerts for various regions in India, orange alert in central and north states where as Kerala and North Eastern states are under red alerts.
