'Shameless Person': Virat Kohli Receives Flak On Social Media Over 'Ye Paani Pilata Hai' Gesture Towards PBKS Debutant Musheer Khan; Video
Virat Kohli, has come under fire on social media for allegedly making a disrespectful comment towards young PBKS debutant Musheer Khan. During the ninth over of Punjab’s innings, Musheer Khan, making his IPL debut as an Impact Player, walked out to bat following Marcus Stoinis’ dismissal. A video that has since gone viral on social media shows Kohli in an animated conversation at first slip, reportedly referring to Musheer as a “water-boy” with the remark, “Ye paani pilata hai” (He serves water).
The alleged comment has sparked a wave of backlash online, with many fans accusing the RCB veteran of showing disrespect towards the 20-year-old debutant.
Notably, Musheer had been carrying drinks for much of the tournament before finally getting his opportunity in this high-pressure playoff game. Unfortunately for the young batter, his debut did not go as hoped. He was dismissed for a three-ball duck by Suyash Sharma, leaving a subdued impression in his first appearance.
Earlier this season, Kohli had gifted Musheer a bat following a league-stage encounter between RCB and PBKS a gesture that was appreciated by the youngster, who posted on Instagram, “A million thanks for the bat, Virat Bhaiyya.”
