Man Held For Running Online Cricket Betting In Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): During a raid on a turf located under the Rajendra Nagar police station jurisdiction, a man was arrested for operating online cricket betting behind the shadow of the women's cricket match there, police said on Thursday. The accused gave live broadcasts of the women’s match on the turf through a social media platform.

Police are on the look-out for the arrested man’s aide who is from Delhi.

Rajendra Nagar police station in charge Neeraj Birthare said cops received information that women’s cricket matches were played on a turf near Treasure Town Township in the Bijalpur area and were broadcast on the Female Indoor Cricket League channel on a social media platform. The accused were betting on cricket matches through the 1x betting app.

Following information, a search warrant was obtained and a raid was conducted on the turf, Cops found their information to be true,

Anurag Dalal, a resident of New Delhi, currently living in Treasure Vihar, who was running the betting, was arrested from the spot. During questioning, Anurag allegedly admitted that he and his friend Siddharth Rai, who lived in Delhi, broadcast the women's cricket matches live on social media and betting was done through the 1x app.

Two CPUs with monitors, two recording cameras, Wi-Fi connection and other electronic items, cricket equipment and accounts registers etc. were seized from the accused Anurag and he was taken into custody for further action.

 A case was registered against the accused under Section 3/4 of the Public Gambling Act and other relevant sections. Information is also being obtained from a social media platform, Play Store and Telegram site.
