The ninth floor of the Haryana Civil Secretariat building was evacuated after a bomb threat was received via email. An official stated that Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and police were combing the premises.

They added that the alert about the bomb threat was issued by the Haryana CID. Security personnel also launched a search operation around Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's residence close by.

"The Haryana civil secretariat has been evacuated. Announcements were made by the CISF and Chandigarh police personnel asking those inside to come out," Chandigarh Deputy Superintendent of Police Udaypal Singh told news agency PTI.

The CISF maintains a 24/7 deployment at the Haryana Civil Secretariat. Officials stated that upon receiving the alert, the bomb disposal unit, fire services, ambulances, quick reaction teams, and the dog squad promptly arrived at the high-security secretariat complex.

Just last week, on May 22, a similar bomb threat was emailed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, leading the Chandigarh Police to temporarily evacuate the court premises. The threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.
