Their bowling has faltered, especially in the powerplay. Mohammed Siraj must strike early, while Arshad Khan’s struggles with the new ball have increased pressure on standout pacer Prasidh Krishna (23 wickets this season). Spin spearhead Rashid Khan has also been ineffective, compounding their woes.
With the bat, Gujarat’s top trio — Sai Sudharsan, Gill, and Jos Buttler — were crucial in the league phase. But Buttler’s departure for national duty leaves a void. His replacement, Kusal Mendis, has big shoes to fill.
