100 rooms, 200 years old still no one lives here, what is the mystery of this cursed palace?

Some places are known not just for their beauty or history, but for the unique and mysterious stories that surround them. In India, where farming is the backbone of life, the monsoon season is often a time of hope and happiness for farmers. But in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, the rains bring a different kind of story; one filled with fear and mystery. Every year, as the skies darken, a nearly 200-year-old fort known as the cursed king’s palace is struck by lightning again and again, leaving the local people both worried and fascinated by this strange phenomenon.

According to a TV9Hindi report, in Pithoria village, situated along Ranchi-Patratu Road within the Pithoria police jurisdiction of Ranchi, there once stood a magnificent 100-room palace belonging to the enigmatic King Jagatpal Singh, dating back more than 200 years. Because of a curse, the palace is struck by powerful lightning every year, which has gradually reduced this grand structure to ruins.

The mysterious palace (fort) of King Jagatpal Singh continues to be struck by lightning. Despite being in ruins, the lightning strikes persist every time the rains arrive.

As per the TV9 Hindi report, according to local people, this happens because King Jagatpal Singh betrayed the country and sided with the British soldiers.

During the 1857 uprising, King Jagatpal Singh aided the British forces by assisting British officer Thomas Wilkinson in capturing the freedom fighter Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo. Consequently, the British authorities sentenced Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo to death by hanging. However, before his execution, Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo cursed King Jagatpal Singh for his betrayal, prophesying that his kingdom would fall and his cherished 100-room palace (fort) would be reduced to ruins.

As per the locals, it is the curse of Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo that causes lightning to hit King Jagatpal Singh’s fort every monsoon season, which has led to the complete destruction of his grand palace, reported TV9Hindi. However, some remnants of the fort still remain, bearing witness to the damage caused by these repeated lightning strikes.
