PAC commends brave stand of GCG students against ‘encroachment’

The Public Action Committee, Mattewara, congratulates courageous students of Government Girls College (GCG), Ludhiana, for their resolute stand against the alleged attempt to encroach upon a significant portion of their college ground. The PAC condemns the gross misuse of political power and stands firmly with the students and faculty in their efforts to safeguard their institution and its property. Dr Amandeep Bains, Jaskirat Singh, Kapil Arora and Kuldeep Khaira of the PAC said: “We are grateful to the students for defending their esteemed institution from unlawful encroachment. Our appreciation also goes to all who stood by them and helped remove illegal poles installed by encroachers. It is heartening to see the younger generation being aware of their rights and responsibilities. “The act by the students is a tight slap in the face of those who seek to twist the law to serve their whims and fancies. By confronting and resisting the encroachment from Day One, these young women have not only protected their college ground but also set a powerful precedent. They have created history by uprooting the corrupt intentions at their very onset, sending a clear message to all such offenders,” they said. “Playgrounds and open spaces are essential for the physical and mental development of students. This was not just an attack on land but on the future of our youth. We urge the college management to diligently pursue the matter with the police and ensure a proper FIR is registered against both encroachers and their political backers. While we understand challenges of seeking justice against those with political influence, we firmly believe the law must prevail,” the PAC members said.
