7 held for kidnapping hotel staff over eviction row

A man staying with his female companion at a hotel in Gurugram became so aggrieved after being asked to vacate the room, following a nine-day stay, that he plotted with his friends to kidnap a hotel employee and demand a ransom of Rs 2 lakh for his release. Acting swiftly, the Gurugram police arrested all seven accused from Ambala and safely rescued the kidnapped hotel worker. A Maruti Ertiga car, allegedly used in the abduction, was also seized. A case has been registered at Sector 18 Police Station. The incident took place around 8.15 am on Thursday at Welcome Hotel, located in Sukhrali Enclave, when police received information about the abduction of a hotel employee. The accused had allegedly assaulted the victim and fled with the hotel’s CCTV DVR and record register. They subsequently demanded Rs 2 lakh for his release, prompting the hotel operator to transfer Rs10,000 to the account provided by the abductors. Following the FIR, a police team launched raids and apprehended all seven accused from Ambala within hours on Thursday, successfully rescuing the abducted employee. The arrested individuals were identified as Narender Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Sachin and Sahil, all residents of Jind district. According to the police, Narender Kumar had checked into the hotel with his female friend. However, a dispute soon erupted between them and the hotel operator subsequently evicted them.
