MoHFW's Covid Dashboard Lags Behind; Not Updated Daily

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)’s official dashboard tracking state-wise Covid-19 cases is not being updated daily, raising concern over transparency and accuracy in reporting, especially as cases rise in several states.

As per the current status, the MoHFW dashboard displays data only up to May 26, although counting began on May 19 — reflecting a delay of at least four days. As of 8 am, it shows only six deaths nationwide: three in Maharashtra, two in Kerala and one in Karnataka.

In case of Madhya Pradesh, the dashboard reports only two active Covid-19 cases. However, the state health department had already reported 10 cases and one Covid-related death since April 22, data that the central dashboard has not reflected.

Amulya Nidhi, a health activist and national co-convener of Jan Swasthya Abhiyan, said, “The dashboard of MoHFW is supposed to show daily figures of active and death cases. When it isn’t updated daily, it raises doubts about the health ministry’s transparency in handling Covid data. It’s a serious matter and the department must look into it, especially as cases are increasing at an alarming rate.”

Dr Narendra Gupta, also associated with Jan Swasthya Abhiyan, said, “Transparency must be maintained. It's the responsibility of the MoHFW to provide an accurate picture of active cases and deaths to the public—it helps raise awareness.”

Updated weekly: health commissioner

Health commissioner Tarun Rathi informed Free Press, “MoHFW’s dashboard for corona status is updated weekly. This is the reason it does not show updated figures on a daily basis.”
